And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Chronicles 1:1
Having God on your side is a good thing. There are many instances where God wasn't on everyone's side. He wasn't on the side with the Egyptians when he brought the plagues to Egypt. He wasn't on the side of the people who didn't believe Noah that there was a storm coming that would flood the earth.
There are sides to many different things in our lives. As a Sunday school teacher I would at times have a moment of games with the children. Sometimes they would want to have captains who would then pick who would be on their teams. I would always pay close attention to this process of selection to encourage the teams to be enthusiastic of getting the last person on their team. I did this because I didn't want the last kid picked to feel bad. As a kid myself I remember being picked next to last many times. I would watch as the most athletic or most popular kid would always be chosen. Then I would wait eagerly wanting to be picked, to be wanted knowing that I could be valuable to the team.
God says that we are all valuable to Him. He loves everyone of us as a father loves his children. But God gives us the option to have Him on our side or not. We have a choice to pick God every morning to be on our side for the day. Unfortunately we may pick the T.V. first, activities second and then we may say okay God you can come over to me now. Or we may say nope, my plate is full today God, no room on the team today. Spend time with God everyday in rejoicing, prayer, thanking, Bible reading and in thought. Make sure He is the first person on your team everyday.
Solomon chose to have God in His life and because of that the Lord God was with him and magnified Solomon exceedingly.
