At Disneyland there is a show called Aladdin that we love to watch every time we go and visit California Adventures. The genie always steals the show with his quick humor and humor on current events. This year according to the Mayan calendar the world was suppose to end on Dec. 21st. As we were there the day after, the genie's comment to Al losing the girl was, "Don't worry Al it's not the end of the world... that was yesterday". We still laugh as a family as we think about that line.
The passage today reminded me how that sometimes we tend to treat God as a genie. God, if you would just give me this wish... Here was God telling King Solomon because you didn't think of yourself and ask to live longer, ask to be a millionaire, or ask to have your enemies killed I am going to bless you. And God did bless Solomon as Solomon continued to seek God.
Doesn't it bless you when your kids think of others beside themselves? That's what God likes to see too, us encouraging others and helping others. Who can you call today and encourage?
