1/10 A Foundation of Days

Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

Psalms 144:4

A day is 24 hours and every year it keeps to 24 hours.  Now if you want to get picky, scientists tell us each year that we either gain or lose so many milliseconds as they measure with their atomic instruments.  But one thing that is sure, is that we are getting older and older each day.  As I get older the days seem to get faster.  I am starting to remember things that I've seen my parents do at my age.  I remember my dad turning 40 because my mom filled his car with balloons on his 40th.  Is there something that you remember of your parents at your age now?

It's already ten days into the new year.  Did it just seem that we celebrated New Years Eve?  Valentines is coming up quickly.  God says our days on the earth are numbered and He knows the number of days that we will be on this earth.  Our days on the earth are like a shadow that goes by.

My family likes to watch the sunset go down and as it goes down we try to see that green spot just before it disappears over the horizon.  In those last few seconds you can actually detect the movement of the sun, but it's funny how at high noon it looks like the sun doesn't move at all.  The sun is constantly moving little by little.

We have a foundation of days set before us.  How are you going to use them this year?  Are you not going to even think about them and let them just pass by or will you seize the day and plan to make a difference.  Some things that we do are empty in the grand scheme of things, but some things are precious and everlasting to both God and to other people.  Make a difference each day this new year.
