1/3 A Foundation of Thankfulness

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

As I was reading through today's passage whereas Paul went through many ordeals, I couldn't help but to think that my issues last year pales to what Paul went through.  I am a blessed Husband, Father and Son, and I owe everything to God.

I recently read a book where this Chinese lady went to prison because she stood up to her faith and would not deny God.  She not only suffered many years in prison, but she also suffered from the hardship of inmates who were helpers of the guards to make her life terrible.  She was finally able to go into a work program where she could at least leave to go home, but her trip to home and work was a couple of hours each way.  Not only was her work days long, but she would end up getting home at 9:00 at night and then have to get back up at 5:00 in the morning.

One of the things that really pained me as I read her story, was when she got married and had children.  To not hardly see your children day in and day out would have broke me.  But she would not deny God.

After over 10 years in prison the Chinese government finally allowed her to be released.  She immigrated over to the US and started an organization through her church.  Her two sons became faithful followers and since then have married.  She had remained faithful to God and God blessed her.  But I believe that more blessings in heaven are still waiting for her.

Today's Theme
In everything give thanks to God.  When you are stressed or worrying, think of others who have suffered far worse.
